I am enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Maryland, funded by a Knowles Science Teaching Fellowship that will actually support me beyond the program itself for a total of five years. I’m preparing to be a high school biology teacher.
I knew I loved science, but as a laboratory teaching assistant at F&M, I discovered I really loved teaching; that's what made me think about teaching as a career. The Knowles Fellowship allows me to take graduate classes at night and do teaching internships during the day.
I had an amazing ride at F&M. It's a close-knit community, and I was able to fit right in when I transferred from a large state university, mainly because of the extracurricular activities-- everything from Greek life to the environmental club. There are so many opportunities to get involved and to get to know people.
