At noon Monday, April 28, Franklin & Marshall College's Department of American Studies invites you to join us for a lunchtime study break at Philadelphia Alumni Writers House, where author Doretta Lau will read from her debut short story collection, "How Does a Single Blade of Grass Thanks the Sun?" A light lunch will be served.

Lau is an award-winning journalist and author who splits her time between Hong Kong and Vancouver. Her stories mix popular culture with the personal and feature the children and grandchildren of immigrants, transnational adoptees and multiracial adults -- all struggling to find a place in the Western world.
