Dear Colleagues:

Thanks to your referrals and support, the Office of Student and Post-Graduate Development (OSPGD) engaged more than 73 percent of F&M's student body last year.  This year, we hope you will participate in the following programs to prepare our students for post-graduate success:
  • Workshops and dinners needing volunteers:
    • Life After College Success Speaker Dinner with Aaron Bass '01, Founding Principal at KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy, Wednesday, October 1, 7:00 - 8:15pm.  At this sit-down dinner, you will be seated among the 100 sophomore through senior students participating in this year's LACS program, allowing them to practice their networking and verbal presentation skills.
    • Senior Boot Camp, Tuesday, October 14, 12:15pm - 1:30pm.  This intensive one-day program provides seniors with tips and contacts to land a job before graduation.  With over 100 seniors attending this event over the past two years, your role would be to work with a subset of the attendees on how to articulate their F&M experience to professional contacts verbally and via their resume.  Lunch provided.
    • Success with Manners: The Art of the Meal, Etiquette and Fundamentals, Thursday, November 6, 7:00 - 8:15pm.  Sheryl Trower, President of The Etiquette School of Central Pennsylvania, will provide attendees with valuable training on etiquette, which you would practice and model with the students at your table. Finger foods and "messy food" tests included!
  • Career Closet.  Do you have any spare new or gently used professional attire to donate to OSPGD's “Career Closet”, which loans professional attire to students who do not have or are unable to access appropriate clothes for interviews and presentations?  Ideal donations include attire purchased within the last five years, such as suits, jackets, pants, skirts, shirts, ties, belts and shoes. Please drop your donations off to OSPGD or let us know if we can pick up a bag of donations from you on-campus.
If you are interested and available to attend any of the foregoing events, please email me.  There is no cost to you for participation other than your contribution of time.  You can also feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thank you in advance for your ongoing support and partnership!

    Sincerely,

    Beth
