Historical U.S. Stock Exchanges

Stock exchanges are as American as apple pie. By some estimates, there were over 100 stock exchanges in the country around the turn of the 20th century. Gradually, these disbanded for a variety of reasons, with trading increasingly consolidated in New York city. Here is a partial list of cities that used to have independent stock exchanges.
