Career Services offers several core workshops each year and welcomes the opportunity to work with student groups, alumni, faculty and professional staff to create customized programs.
Workshops for 2011-12 include Dress for Success and Financing Your Future.
Dress for Success: Professional experts will advise students on the do's and don'ts of professional dress, body language and networking. Held March 29, 2012.
Financing Your Future: Primarily aimed at seniors, F&M Alum speak to students about how to create a budget for their first year after college, taking into account the costs of loan repayment, assembling a professional wardrobe, building savings, and understanding credit. Other topics include understanding the components of a job offer/compensation package and how and what to negotiate.
Student initiated workshops have in the past been held for clubs, Greek organizations, and sports teams. Career Services works with each group to customize workshops.
