How can I look for courses?

Using the Master Schedule:
  • From the Registration Menu, select “Search for Classes,” and then enter the desired term for “Search by Term.”
  • In the text at the top of the page, click on the Master Schedule link. This will open the entire schedule.
  • Before your registration time, record the course information on your registration worksheet, including the CRN for the course you would like.
  • During your registration time, you may enter the CRN directly onto the “Add or Drop Courses” page.
Using Course Search:
  • Select “Search for Classes,” and then enter your desired term for “Search by Term.”
  • Select department in which you want to search for courses and click “Course Search.”
  • Select desired course and select “View Sections.” If a particular section has “SR,” it just means that your time ticket for registration is not valid. If a section has a “C,” then the section is closed.
  • Prior to your registration time, you will need to record the CRN for the desired section, along with the other information for the section, on your course registration worksheet.
  • During your registration time, you may select the desired CRN by clicking on the box in the “Select” column and then either choosing “Add to Worksheet” or “Register.” Please note that if you are registering for a course that requires a lab/drill/practicum/discussion, you must enter the CRNs for both the lecture and the additional academic portion of the course in the electronic “Add to Worksheet to submit at the same time. The system will not allow you to register for a lecture without the corresponding portion.
  • If the “Add to Worksheet” option was selected, click on “Submit Changes.”
Using Advanced Search:
  • Select “Search for Classes,” and then enter your desired term for “Search by Term.”
  • Click “Advanced Search,”
  • Select at least one department and as many different criteria as you would like to narrow your search, but you must select at least one subject.
  • Select “Section Search.”

What is the difference between Course Search and Advanced Search?

  • Course Search allows you to look up courses in one or more departments and will return a list that includes all courses for the department(s) selected.
  • Advanced Course Search allows you to look up courses in more than one department, but it allows a more refined search since you select the criteria to find courses that fulfill certain attributes, such as specific distribution requirements, or courses that meet at certain times and on certain days.

What is a CRN?

What is a Time Ticket?

  • A time ticket states the day and time that you are allowed to begin your registration. You will not be permitted to access the “Add or Drop Courses” link until your ticket is valid.
  • Groups of students, beginning with Seniors, will have the same time ticket for access to the system.

Where do I find my Time Ticket?

  • From Inside F&M, go to the Academics tab and click on Student Records & Registration.
  • Click on Registration
  • From the Registration menu, select Registration Status.
  • You will find the dates and times that you will be able to access the Registration system.

The class listed for registration purposes is not my class for next year. Why?

  • The class status listed for registration purposes is based only on earned credits and does not take into account the credits in which you are enrolled this semester.
  • Registration times are based on a student's anticipated graduation year to be sure that all students will have access to registration at the appropriate time.

How do I register?

  • From Inside F&M, go to the Academics tab and click on Student Records & Registration.
  • Click on Registration
  • Select “Add or Drop Classes.”
  • When prompted, enter the Alternate PIN or Advising Code you received from your academic adviser to access the worksheet.

  • Click “Submit Changes.”
  • You are enrolled in courses marked “Web Registered” under “Current Schedule.”

Why didn’t I get all of my courses?

  • Check “Registration Add Errors” to find out why you weren’t enrolled in a particular course.
  • If a course is closed, you may follow the directions to be placed on the waitlist.
  • If you need instructor permission, contact the instructor to ask for permission.
  • If I am on a waitlist or waiting for instructor approval, should I register for other courses?
  • Yes! If you receive instructor approval, or if a seat in a waitlisted course becomes available, you can always drop a “back-up” course in which you are enrolled.

How do I get permission from an instructor to enroll in a course?

  • Contact the instructor and ask for permission to enroll in the course. Be sure to tell the instructor the reason you need permission, since the instructor will have to enter the type of override you need.
  • You can check to see if an override has been issued by logging into Inside F&M, clicking on the Academics tab, and clicking on Student Records & Registration on the top right hand corner of the page and then Registration.
  • From the Registration menu, click on “Registration Status.”
  • If an override has been entered, it will appear on this page in a section labeled “Registration Permits and Overrides.”
  • Write down the CRN of the course.
  • Click on the “Add or Drop Classes” link at the bottom of the page.
  • Enter the CRN on the Add Classes Worksheet.
  • Click “Submit Changes.”
  • The course status should be “Web Registered.”

How do I place myself on a waitlist for a course that is closed?

  • Write down the CRN for the course and click on “Return to Menu” at the top of the page.
  • Click on “Add or Drop Classes” and enter the CRN at the bottom of the page. Click on “Submit Changes” at the bottom of the page.

  • For the course you wish to drop, select “Drop on Web” under the Action heading.
