Franklin & Marshall College Franklin & Marshall College

Training

Training is available for Franklin & Marshall College employees to learn their responsibilities as "mandated reporters."

There are three federal laws that establish responsibilities for employees of colleges to report certain types of crimes and incidents, especially sexual misconduct—the Clery Act, Title VII and Title IX. The responsibilities established by these laws give rise to the term “mandated reporter" or "mandatory reporter." The College has defined all employees, both faculty and professional staff, as mandated reporters.

Employees are expected to register online for in-person training sessions.

Training schedule

The sessions will be 30-45 minutes long and will cover the basics of Title IX, Title VII and the Clery Act, responsibilities of a Mandated Reporter, discussion of specific examples, and questions and answers.

Two video recorded sessions produced as a training module for the National Center of Higher Education Risk Management will be used by F&M for faculty and professional staff who cannot attend the live sessions and for new hires. Employees attending the recorded video sessions will be asked to sign a video release.

Online training will become available in January 2013.
