Cameron Warner ’12 took the top spot and Danny Liebowitz ’12 finished fifth to deliver Franklin & Marshall the 2012 Centennial Conference (CC) men’s golf championship on April 29 at Blue Ridge Country Club in Harrisburg. Warner finished in a three-way tie for first, but his birdie on the first playoff hole proved to be the difference, as he became just the third golfer in F&M history to win an individual conference title.

The CC crown is F&M’s fourth in the last five years and fifth since the inception of the conference in 1993. It is the Diplomats’ 10th conference championship overall. The tournament win is the seventh for F&M this season.

F&M finished at 931 (314-303-314), four strokes ahead of runner-up Swarthmore College (935). Dickinson College (937) took third, while 2011 champion McDaniel College finished fourth at 937. Rounding out the field were Gettysburg College (975) and Muhlenberg College (994).

Warner finished the final round with a 75 for a combined tournament score of 225 (76-74-75). McDaniel's Greg Bowman and Swarthmore's Paul Weston were the other two players in the first-place tie, while Swarthmore’s Andrew Park took fourth in the 54-hole tournament.

Liebowitz earned All-CC honors with his fifth-place finish after carding 213 (80-72-79) on the par-72, 6,615-yard course. F&M’s Robert Svigals ’15 shot an 80 to finish with a combined score of 234 for ninth place. Brendan Mohler ’12 placed 18th at 244 (85-79-80), while Kevin Goserud ’13 tied for 22nd at 247 (82-82-83).

The Diplomats earned the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Championships. The NCAA appearance will be the eighth in the program’s history. The four-day, 72-hole tournament will start on May 15 at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., northwest of Orlando.
