Beyond 225: Inspired for Life (Video)

Franklin & Marshall College grew out of a vision of intellect, creativity and character established by two iconic American leaders: Benjamin Franklin, one of the creators of our nation, and John Marshall, who built the U.S. Supreme Court.

So begins a new video that seeks to promote the theme of the College's 225th anniversary celebration year among members of the F&M community. The video premiered Nov. 29 at a gala in New York City's Jazz at Lincoln Center, where hundreds of members of the F&M community gathered for one of the signature events in F&M's yearlong celebration of its 225th anniversary this academic year. Narrated by F&M alumnus and Golden Globe-nominated actor Treat Williams '73, the video takes viewers on a journey from the College's origins as a school with approximately 100 students at its founding in 1787 to an internationally respected institution with 25,000 alumni around the world today.

The theme of the anniversary year is "Beyond 225: Inspired for Life." The video, which will be shared with alumni at different points during the year, shares this message: "The lifeblood of the College goes beyond the place. It's really about the people -- and the community we help to create."

The video highlights the community of faculty members, coaches and mentors who have educated and sparked curiosity among students -- and kindled the spirit of F&M.
