Alternative Winter & Spring Break Trips
An opportunity to learn and help others during school breaks
Alternative service breaks provide experiential educational opportunities for groups of students traveling during their school vacations to work with community initiatives that address global and local social justice, health and economic issues.
In the spirit of community solidarity and engaged learning, Ware Institute programs have a strict conduct policy and are drug free.

Honduras Alternative Spring Break
Medical Mission Trip
Program Dates: March 11-17, 2012*
The Ware Institute, in partnership with CARE (Central American Relief Efforts) is pleased to provide this Alternative Spring Break opportunity. This is a health-related trip for students interested in medicine, public health, and service to others. Steve Menter, president of CARE will supervise students on this trip. CARE is a faith-based organization in Lancaster, PA which does not proselytize. It's mission is to mobilize volunteers and humanitarian aid in the United States to benefit populations in abject poverty in areas of Central America.

CPS Marshall Scholars can submit a completed proposal by the end of December 7, 2011 (or sooner) in order to receive approval for funds for this trip.
Ghana Alternative Winter Break
Program Dates: December 28, 2011-January 15, 2012
The Ware Institute for Civic Engagement is pleased to offer this alternative winter break community-based learning trip. This is a joint project between Franklin & Marshall College and the Heritage Academy in Ghana, West Africa. Through this program F&M students will gain exposure to global issues while helping the Heritage students to find solutions to some local problems.
No scholarships are available for this program.
CPS Marshall Scholars can submit a completed proposal by November 1, 2011 (or sooner) in order to receive approval for funds for this trip.
