What happens if there is inclement weather?

Weather permitting, the ceremony is held on Hartman Green in the center of campus. Should we have inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in the Alumni Sports and Fitness Center (ASFC).

Do we need tickets for the ceremony?

No, tickets are not required, and there is no limit to the number of seats available for families for the ceremony even if it is held inside.

What is the Baccalaureate Service?

The traditional Baccalaureate service, with seniors participating, will take place on Friday, May 15 at 2 p.m. Baccalaureate is a service, conducted by seniors in celebration of their time at Franklin & Marshall. There is also a President's Reception for seniors and guests on Friday following the Baccalaureate service. This event provides an excellent opportunity to meet members of the faculty and administration, as well as other students, parents and guests.

Is there special parking and seating for handicapped guests?

Yes, there is a convenient drop-off location, and special parking and seating for handicapped guests. If you or a guest require special accommodations, please contact Dennis Walters in the Office of Public Safety at dennis.walters@fandm.edu or at (717) 358-4577. He can assist in arranging for special accommodations.

Can we stay overnight on campus?

The College is making space available in the residence halls for parents and guests.  Rooms will be available Friday, May 15, with check-in time from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., and checkout by 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 16.  Room rates are $25 per person for double occupancy and $30 per person for single occupancy.  Bed linens are provided, towels are not. The reservations form should be completed and returned with checks payable to Franklin & Marshall College by April 30, 2009.

While parents and guests often enjoy this opportunity to be "in residence," please understand that residence halls do not offer private and personal accommodations.  For those uncomfortable with a group living environment, we recommend making off-campus arrangements.
