Anime @ F&M

Bringing Anime to F&M

Meetings

We have weekly meetings on Wednesday nights at 9:30 P.M. in the Armstrong Room of the College Center, and bi-weekly ANA meetings in the lounge of the first-floor Rauch residence hall that go from 7:30 P.M. Friday night until 7:30 A.M. Saturday morning. We also have occasional movie nights on Sunday nights in Stahr Auditorium on the first floor of Stager hall.

All are welcome to join, regardless of affiliation to the college, but non-F&M members (with a few exceptions) should inform a club officer prior to attending ANA sessions (as you will not be able to get into the residence hall without a FOB).

Wednesday Nights

F&M Anime Club meets every Wednesday at 9:30 P.M. (except for the week of Thanksgiving, and Finals week), at which time we watch 5 episodes; the first 3 episodes of which are of a series that is contiguous from week to week (i.e. next week we will watch episodes 1-3, the week after, episodes 4-6, etc.). After that, we will show 2 additional episodes from some other show, in the hopes of affording the members a chance to see a wide diversity of shows. At times, certain release companies send us DVDs that they then ask us to comment on, which we then fill out surveys to demonstrate and send back to the company. These Wednesday night meetings generally go until about 11:30 P.M.

All-Night Anime a.k.a. ANA

Additionally, every other Friday night around 7:30 P.M. we have an "ANA" or All-Night Anime. During these, we show all of a 26-episode show, or two 13-episode shows, completing an entire story (or story-arc) in a single night. Over the course of the night we occasionally order pizza or go out to Turkey Hill for snacks, but by and large we remain in the lounge for this entire time. ANAs end at 7:30 A.M. (we show additional episodes of other shows if we need to fill up time), at which point the dining hall opens, and the club heartily encourages everyone still with us to come along for breakfast as a group in the wee small hours. During these breakfasts, we generally have conversations concerning what we've seen, or nothing we've seen, but considering how long most of us have been up, we don't often notice the transitions.

Trip to Katsucon

Anime Club has funds to provide transportation for a limited number of club members to Katsucon, which is an average-sized anime convention around Washington D.C. usually in February. Admission must still be covered by members who wish to go, but since we only go down for one Saturday, the cost is generally about $35.
