Professional Biography

Born in Moscow, Russia, Veronika Ryjik received her BA in Hispanic Studies from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and her MA and PhD in Hispanic Studies from Brown University.  She specializes in Renaissance and Baroque Spanish literature, with an emphasis on Spanish Golden Age Theater.  Her research interests also include Spanish Medieval Literature, Comparative Literature, Cultural Studies, and Studies of Nationalism.  Veronika has been teaching at Franklin and Marshall College since 2004.  She teaches all levels of Spanish language, as well as introductory and advanced courses in literature, including seminars on Don Quijote, Seventeenth-Century Spanish Theater, Courtly Love in Spanish Medieval and Golden Age Literature, and Spanish and Latin-American Baroque Literature.
