Student Research

Global fashion showMisty Bastian, Professor of Anthropology, offered a new seminar, Global Fashion, in the spring of 2008. Students in this new class focused on gender and dress in nonwestern societies, the symbolic meanings of dress cross-culturally, as well as histories of national dress.

The seminar included a fashion show, in which students researched a specific garment and displayed the garment for the larger college community. The enthusiastic crowd at the John Joseph International House enjoyed the seminar's fashion show very much.
