Kappa Sigma
Kappa Sigma was founded at the University of Virginia on December 10, 1869, by friends imbued with a tradition of Jeffersonian democracy. In this atmosphere every student tended to be a freeman in spirit and a man in mental development. Kappa Sigma thus began its existence at this institution as a fraternity for good fellows, good company, good manners, good morals, bright minds and the wit, spirit, and leadership of gentlemen. In 1928, fifty-nine years later, the Delta Rho chapter of Kappa Sigma was established at Franklin & Marshall College. The Kappa Sigma Fraternity celebrated its 80th anniversary at Franklin & Marshall, with 150 plus alumni in attendance. The fraternity prides itself on being a strong part of the Franklin and Marshall community. Through a solid and growing foundation of fifty brothers the Fraternity strides to excel in service, leadership, and scholarship. Throughout the year the Fraternity sponsors a variety of events which promote community service and brotherhood. Kappa Sigma's most noteworthy event last year was the Halloween Haunted House. The brothers of Kappa Sigma along with the sisters of Chi Omega turned the Kappa Sigma Fraternity house into a full fledged terrifying haunted house. The house was open to the children of Lancaster and was a great success. The Kappa Sigma Fraternity house is a one-hundred year old house located in Lancaster's historic neighborhood, on the corner of North Charlotte Street. It has the capacity to hold as many as thirty brothers. The walls of this beautiful house tell the stories of 80 years of fun, growth, and brotherhood. Our house has helped us to create some of this campus' most memorable social events, Bahama Mama and Winterwonderland. We currently have 65 brothers, who's compiled GPA is 2nd highest of all Greek Organizations. We have the most diverse fraternity with brothers from 8 different countries, excluding the USA.
