Phi Kappa Psi
Phi Kappa Psi was founded at Jefferson College in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, on February 19, 1852. That winter there had been an outbreak of typhoid fever that struck the town and the college. William Henry Letterman of Canonsburg and Charles Page Thomas Moore of Mason County, Virginia, tended the stricken and through long days and nights of selfless labor came to understand "the great joy of serving others." Already friends, they were inspired to give lasting form to their experiences through the creation of a new fraternity, whose principles, ideals, and purposes would express the highest standard of brotherhood. Thus, when they met at the Letterman home on February 19, their intention from the beginning was to found an order that would grow to include men of honor and good will at colleges throughout America. The Penn Eta chapter of Phi Kappa Psi was established at Franklin & Marshall College in 1860.
Phi Kappa Psi has a 149 year history at Franklin & Marshall. We currently have 27 members, offering a small but close-knit and diverse brotherhood. Our brothers are highly involved in philanthropic activities and on campus. We raise money every year for the annual MS Walk in Lancaster, and volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club and with other local youth programs. Our brothers excel on campus by consistently maintaining the highest GPA of the fraternities and by being heavily involved in campus activities. Brothers have served as presidents in the house system, as class presidents, and as founders and leaders in many prominent clubs (including the 1 in 4 group dedicated to preventing sexual assault). If you are looking to join a fraternity that fosters high success and lifetime bonds, Phi Kappa Psi may be right for you.
