Team History

Aiding Cancer research since 1997

Russ DeSouza contacted F&M in March of 1997 and encouraged us to field a team from F&M to participate in the Relay. This was from a conversation he had with Diane Shiflet (a former F&M secretary) as they walked in the Relay together in 1995 during the Survivors Lap. Diane and Russ bonded at the Relay, both suffering from melanoma and have both since lost their battle with the dreaded disease.

So, in 1997, we started our first F&M On Track team with only eight team members. Today we have grown to two teams. We describe ourselves as having our feet on the track and our heads in the clouds, kicking cancer with our college friends and employees.

In the race against cancer, there is no finish line until we find a cure.
