Kerry is a professor in the English department and the founding Director of the Philadelphia Alumni Writers House at Franklin & Marshall College. Before joining Franklin & Marshall in 2003, Wright served for six years as the first Director of the Kelly Writers House at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Wright has a PhD in English literature from Temple University, and she received her Masters in creative writing from Hollins College and her Bachelors in religious studies from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a writer of both scholarly and creative prose. Wright was recognized upon her departure from the Kelly Writers House at the University of Pennsylvania with the creation of The Kerry Sherin Wright Prize, an annual award that supports an event or project that "best captures" her spirit of "aesthetic capaciousness and literary communitarianism." She lives in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, with her husband Scott and their son Skyler.

Ellen Brown, Assistant Director

Ellen graduated from Franklin and Marshall College with honors in cultural anthropology in 1998. For several years after college, she served as editor of the local vanguard publication Inside Magazine, which strove to position Lancaster as a cultural and literary hub. Her desire to focus more exclusively on the writing and research processes led her to the Lancaster Literary Guild and its journal, Rapportage. There, she contributed in-depth, scholarly articles on authors and literary themes, and before long, she assumed the role of managing editor of Rapportage and assistant director of the organization. While at the Literary Guild, Ellen profiled writers such as Dave Eggers and traveled to England to research the Brontes. At the same time, she edited submissions to the journal, coordinated all aspects of the Guild's author lecture series, worked closely with Lancaster educators to facilitate author visits to schools, and supervised office staff and interns. Most recently, Ellen has made her living as a freelance writer, publishing several articles a month and working on a longer non-fiction book project.
