Programs
Off-campus study is one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences you can have as a student at Franklin & Marshall. Remember that no matter which program you choose, travel and fun are virtually guaranteed. The program selection process is a time to challenge yourself. Consider what you would like to gain from off-campus study in terms of your academic, extra-curricular, personal, and long-range goals. Think about a range of destinations, including non-English speaking and less-traveled-to countries. This is a unique opportunity -- make it your own!
Franklin & Marshall Pre-Approved Programs
The Franklin & Marshall International & Off-Campus Study Faculty Committee has selected programs that demonstrate academic and administrative quality, allow students to be immersed in local culture, and offer a breadth of coursework. There are over 200 pre-approved programs in 60 countries to choose from.

Program Models
Direct Enrollment programs allow students to enroll in courses at the local university, learn along with host country nationals, and participate full in university culture. Students often live in university housing, and may join university clubs, groups, and teams.
Study Center programs are designed for groups of off-campus study students to take courses together, often exploring host country culture, language, history, and society. Students may live with other program participants, host families, or host country students.
Some programs combine both of these models, giving students the option of taking a few courses at a study center and a few at a local university. Direct enrollment options in these cases may depend on language proficiency test scores, as courses will often be taught in the host country language.
Individual Program Approval
If you have a particular interest that is not met by the pre-approved programs, you may request consideration for individual approval of an off-campus study program. All programs will be evaluated for quality of academics and student support services. If you are considering a program that is not on the pre-approved list, your off-campus study adviser will guide you through the approval process.
