Chamber Music Society

The Chamber Music Society is made up of six chamber ensembles:

  • The Dewey String Quartet (named for a former dean)

  • The Klein String Quartet (named for the first orchestra conductor at F&M)

  • The Buchanan Brass Quintet (named for US president James Buchanan who was also a F&M Trustee)

  • The Marshall Woodwind Quintet (named for John Marshall, founder of Marshall College and the first US supreme court chief justice)

  • The Harbaugh Flute Choir (named for a former F&M trustee)

  • The Shiflet Saxophone Quartet (named for a former music department secretary)

In addition there are also Clarinet Ensembles

These groups rehearse one hour a week and perform once a semester. F&M's artist teachers coach the ensembles.
