Friday Discussions
Discussions are held weekly in the Women's Center at 12 Noon. Free drinks and bagels are provided. All individuals and opinions are welcome.
-Informal Weekly discussions on a wide range of topics take place each Friday at noon in The Women's Center discussion room. Free bagels and drinks are provided, and the discussions draw students, faculty, administrators, and staff. The intimate environment of the Center allows participants to interact, ask questions and oftentimes to continue the conversation afterwards.
-The Executive Board adopted a separate mission statement for the discussions in order to insure that all opinions are expressed and valued:
"Founded on the principles of gender equality, The Women's Center seeks
to empower, educate, and further the exchange of ideas concerning the society
and world in which we live. Within this environment of acceptance, The
Women's Center strives to encourage individuals to evaluate their opinions
and beliefs, to provide a forum where people can question and be questioned,
and to continually learn from one another. The Women's Center encourages
all opinions and holds to no set of political beliefs save the fundamental idea
that we are all human and should be treated with the respect inherent in
humanity regardless of gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation."

Weekly Friday discussions draw 35-60 people, depending on the topic.

Faculty and administrators join students at the discussions.
