Support F&M Crew

Stayin' Afloat, a multi-year capital fundraising plan aimed at raising thirty-five thousand dollars was approved at the end of the 2005 spring season by the administration and the executive board. This aggressive fundraising campaign is solely dependent upon the generous donations of our supporters and was set in motion after the election of the new executive board, an energetic body with big plans for the fall.

The team seeks to raise a majority of this money through comprehensive phone and mail solicitations to crew alumni and benefactors. Additionally, matching donations from the school and other large local corporations are being negotiated. The campaign will be overseen by the Diplomat Athletic Club (DAC), which serves as the presiding fundraising organization for F&M athletics. All donations and contributions will be collected by the DAC and are tax deductible.

In the next few months the team hopes to raise enough funds through donations to finance the replacement of the broken dock and purchase of several new boats and equipment to accommodate for the growth of the team.

Looking to the future, Laura Abernathy, team President, comments on the anticipated success of the Stayin' Afloat Campaign, "Without the continued generosity of our supporters, this team would not be able to function as successfully as it does today. The team is headed for some big changes, and we invite you to be a part of them."
