New Outdoor Gear Rental Program Opens Sept. 6

The Center for the Sustainable Environment will open the new Outdoor Gear Rental Program (OGRP) on Thursday, Sept. 6. The OGRP's hours are 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily. Stop by to rent gear such as backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, hammocks, trekking poles, snowshoes, field guides and much, much more for nominal fees.

Additionally, the OGRP will lead five outdoor trips this semester including a kayaking trip, a four-day, three-night backpacking trip along the Appalachian Trail over the fall break, and other adventures that offer students, faculty and staff a chance to engage with the wonderful natural environments surrounding us in Lancaster.

We will have an opening celebration from 4:30 p.m. to  6:30 p.m.,Wednesday, Sept. 5 in the Fair Trade Café space at the Center. Everyone is invited to see some of the gear that will be available for rental, learn about rental policies, and hear more about our programming.

We are happy to announce a partnership with Shank’s Mare Outfitters in Wrightsville, PA.  Located on the shore of the Susquehanna River, Shank’s Mare specializes in rentals of recreational kayaks and stand-up paddle boards.

Shank's Mare now offers F&M students, faculty, and staff a 20 percent discount on their rentals. All you have to do is present your F&M ID at pick-up.

Any questions about the OGRP can be sent to gear-rentals@fandm.edu
