Robin Wert-Eller, coordinator of athletic equipment operations and wellness at Franklin & Marshall College, is the recipient of the 2020 Glenn Sharp Equipment Manager of the Year Award.
The award is presented annually by the national Athletic Equipment Managers Association to the individual who is determined to have contributed the most to the advancement of the equipment management profession in the past year and has exhibited the characteristics and devotion reminiscent of Sharp’s demeanor and lifestyle.
“I can’t believe that I won this honor! It is the highest honor for our association, and I am proud that I can represent the Diplomats well!” Wert-Eller said.
In addition to her equipment manager duties, Wert-Eller, who started at F&M in 1998, also assists in managing all the fitness facilities and helps to coordinate fitness programs across the campus.
A three-time district manager of the year, Wert is a member of the AEMA and became a certified equipment manager in 2001. She is a Continuing Education Committee representative for District 2 and sits on both AEMA’s Steering and Continuing Education Committees. She is a certified personal trainer and a member of the National Intramural and Rec Sports Association and American College of Sports Medicine.
Wert earned her B.S. in Mathematics and her M.Ed. in Sports Management at Millersville University
She will officially be recognized at the 2021 Convention in Atlanta. Georgia.
Glenn Sharp, known as the “father” of AEMA was long-time equipment manager at Bowling Green State University when he and his wife, Helen, organized the association in the basement of their home in 1974. He was elected AEMA president in 1979.
