Arsalan Begins Role as College’s First Dean of Admission

Following an extensive national search, Lukman Arsalan has been appointed as Franklin & Marshall’s inaugural dean of admission. He begins his responsibilities at F&M July 1.

Arsalan comes to Lancaster from Trinity College, where he has served since 2016. He began as Trinity’s senior associate director of admissions and student success. Last year, he was promoted to director of global enrollment and student success, becoming the co-director of Trinity’s Center for Global Enrollment and Student Success. He has earned praise from colleagues for his focus on hospitality and providing an extraordinary “high-touch” experience for all guests. He dramatically increased the College’s international student applications, its net revenue and its brand recognition around the world.

In 2018, Arsalan earned the Trustee Award for Excellence at Trinity’s Commencement. It is the highest honor presented to a staff member and is given to one whose professional, civic and personal achievements exemplify Trinity’s high standards of excellence. He is a frequent presenter at professional conferences on a variety of international education topics.

“I am looking forward to working with Lukman,” said Jimmie Foster Jr., Franklin & Marshall’s vice president for enrollment management. “He is incredibly talented and brings many diverse experiences with him. He understands both the theory and practice of enrollment strategy in this ever-changing environment. He brings both passion and innovation to the students and teams that he leads.

“Lukman not only has a proven track record of increasing international student applications and enrollments, but he also is well-known for establishing and strengthening relationships with those students and their families long after first-year orientation has ended,” Foster added. “He will be a valuable colleague as we strive to make Franklin & Marshall not only more diverse, but more inclusive. I could not think of a better individual to be the inaugural dean of admission at F&M.”

“I am drawn to Franklin & Marshall College for the same reason it attracts highly talented students from across the world—its bold concept of ‘Together, we create the way forward,’” Arsalan said. “I have observed from afar F&M’s leadership in founding the American Talent Initiative, and it is exciting to become part of the movement. I am honored to work under Jimmie Foster Jr.’s leadership, and excited to collaborate with the extraordinary admissions team and many campus partners.”

Before his arrival at Trinity, Arsalan spent two years as associate director of admission for international recruitment at Albion College in Michigan. Prior to that, he spent nearly five years at the University of Delaware, first as its study abroad coordinator, then as its assistant director of international recruitment.

A native of Amman, Jordan, Arsalan earned his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering at the University of Jordan in 2007. He earned his master’s degree from the Clinton School of Public Service at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2009.
