Five to Receive Honorary Degrees

Franklin & Marshall College President John Fry announced that five individuals in the fields of public and military service, education, intercollegiate athletics reform and arts advocacy will receive honorary doctorates at the College’s 2009 Commencement on Saturday, May 16.

The honorees and the degrees they will receive are:

General Colin L. Powell, commencement speaker and doctor of humane letters

Deborah Bial, doctor of humane letters

Myles Brand, doctor of humane letters (in absentia)

Thomas G. Phillips III ’54, doctor of humane letters

Richard D. Winters ’41, doctor of humane letters (in absentia)
