What We Offer at F&M

  • Religious Studies class

A hands-on education that emphasizes learning while doing by blending traditional academic work with instructor-designed, out-of-class learning — in labs, in the community, in the field, and in countries around the world.

With faculty who excel in their fields as close guides and mentors, every Franklin & Marshall student has the opportunity to be creative, test values, and research theories beyond the classroom. A 9:1 student-faculty ratio gives students a high level of access to professors in 54 fields of study, and many faculty members collaborate with students on research that often leads to publication with student coauthors.

  • Holi Festival

A supportive community where students find "homes" in activities that help them flourish.

F&M is a place where faculty mentoring and faculty and peer support systems are uniquely equipped to ensure students flourish and achieve their personal best.

Outside the classroom, there is no limit to student activities. In addition to 27 athletic teams, 18 club sports and 115 student-run clubs and organizations, students often create new organizations that motivate their interests.

  • My Favorite Day at Ein Gedi, Israel

An individualized experience that encourages self-expression and unleashes potential, including through customizable programs of study.

About 2/3 of F&M students do an independent study or self-designed major before they graduate, demonstrating that Franklin & Marshall is truly a place where students study what they love.

More than 200 programs with schools around the world offer extensive opportunities for study abroad, and service projects and community based learning give students a chance to make a difference around the world.

  • postgrad2

A College that launches students to top graduate schools, fellowship programs and careers in every field.

What truly sets F&M apart among leading liberal arts colleges is that we are building a national model for launching students to success beyond college.

Beyond traditional career services, F&M provides comprehensive professional counseling, planning and mentoring, and continues to supports students long after they graduate. When students attend Franklin & Marshall, they are part of the F&M family for life.

  • Ann & Richard Barshinger Center for Musical Arts in Hensel Hall

A 227-year-old legacy that our faculty and students continue to build every day.

The College was established in 1787 with a gift of 200 British pounds from Benjamin Franklin. On July 16 of that year, students who gathered in the humble surroundings of a brew house on Lancaster's Mifflin Street became the first class at the institution that would become Franklin & Marshall College.

Today, each generation of students helps sustain the strong learning community that has been a the core of F&M's values since that first group of students came together.
