Tenure-Track Faculty Opening

The Department of Anthropology at Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for one tenure-track position in sociocultural anthropology at the Assistant Professor or Instructor level, beginning Fall 2013. Ph.D. in anthropology, teaching experience, and a track record of publication strongly preferred. Franklin & Marshall faculty are expected to be excellent teachers, active mentors, and productive scholars. Teaching load is 3/2, which includes participation in the College’s general education requirement, “Foundations,” and/or the first-year seminar program and teaching courses that fulfill the College’s non-Western cultures requirement. We are looking for a colleague who does not duplicate our present departmental interests. The successful candidate must have experience in conducting and analyzing extensive, long-term fieldwork. Topical areas of interest are: critical approaches to humanitarianism, language and culture, visual representation, and race and ethnicity. Research and teaching culture areas are: Middle East/North Africa, Asia, or Oceania. Application deadline is Friday, November 2nd, 2012.
