F&M Summer Arabic Language Program in Cairo
In May-June 2010, the Arabic Program organized the first F&M Summer Arabic Language Program. Students studied Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), Egyptian Colloquial Arabic (ECA) and elective courses such as Arabic Calligraphy, Islamic Architecture and Tajweed al Qur'aan for a total of two credits. Courses took place at the Hedayet Institute in the Maadi neighborhood in Cairo. In our first year we had a total of nine F&M students with different linguistic levels - from no prior knowledge of Arabic to students who had studied either one or two years. In addition to the academic program, students also had the opportunity of discovering more about Egypt through excursions, tours and cultural events.
