Sustainability at F&M

Franklin & Marshall College is committed to serve as a leader in building a sustainable world, from its campus in Lancaster, Pa., to the surrounding community and beyond. In October 2012, the College Board of Trustees formally adopted a Sustainability Master Plan, affirming a pledge to build and enhance a sustainable environment and setting goals that incorporate sustainability into decision-making at every level and in every facet of the College.

As an institution of higher learning, F&M is uniquely positioned to cultivate responsible residents who evaluate environmental, social and economic conditions. Through innovation and collaboration, the campus community seeks to effect change where appropriate and follow a path to global sustainability to serve future generations. The plan is designed to build on existing initiatives and to evolve with changing conditions and knowledge about new alternatives.
