About 75 Bonchekers started off the Spring semester with a trip to play laser tag on Saturday, Jan. 18. Thanks to Congress for organizing the trip and subsidizing the tickets. Photos by Maya McNeal.
The Catastrophic Relief Alliance made an UnCommon Hour presentation on Jan. 28 about its recent trip to New Orleans. Kelsey Kreyche '16 (center) organized the event. Librarian and CRA jefe Andy Gulati (second from right) presented. Bruce Campbell-Janz (right), Executive Director, Mennonite Central Committee-East Coast, also gave a presentation on the work of that relief group. A Southern buffet supper was served.
Prof. Monica Cable, Director of Post-graduate Fellowships and Scholarships, addressed Bonchekers who made the Honor Roll for the Fall semester during our biannual Scholars Reception on Jan. 28. She focused on postgraduate opportunities available for our students.
Bonchek winter olympics
Bonchek had its own winter olympics with an impromptu snow sculpture contest and snowball fight on Feb. 3. 1st prize went to The Thinker, by John and Abel, due to its thoughtful pose, elegant form, and detail. Godzilla, the Grand Piano, and the Bonchek Crest were also well crafted. Prizes were won by all!
One World, One Dance
On March 5, Ariana Solodar-Wincele gave a slide show of her trip to Guinea, Africa, over semester break. She and Janet Peck performed African dances, the African drumming ensemble led by Tammi Hessen, and we all enjoyed food ffrom Rafiki's deli. It was our loudest (and one of our best) UnCommon Hours!
