My name is Akbar Hossain and I am a junior with a declared major in Government and a minor in Sociology. My parents are originally from Bangladesh, but I grew up in Norristown, Pennsylvania. I am currently the President of Brooks House Congress and I'm also involved in several other clubs and organizations at F&M, including John Marshall Pre-Law Honor Society, .08, One World Youth Project, VITA, and Hartman Green Soccer. I've held a few jobs at F&M including Brooks House Technology Manager, Housing Advisor, Orientation Planning Director, Research Analyst at the Center for Opinion Research, and currently, I'm interning with Terry Madonna.
As President of our House, it is my goal to foster Brooks House pride among our Brooksians. In the process, I wish to work with other house leaders in order to develop a system of communication and networking that can benefit all of our student body. By the time our students leave the house system to enter the real world of James Street and College Row, I want them to look back and say that they had the best experience possible through our delicious feasts of various types of ethnic food, mouth watering Sunday night sundaes, and other equally exciting and well thought out social programming events.
Interesting Fact: I once won a male beauty pageant and was declared Mr. Norristown. I have the crown to prove it!
If you have any questions regarding Brooks House, or any of the other activities I'm involved in, please feel free to contact me.
