Fenlon/Moore Collaboration

A rotaxaknot is a molecular knot that cannot become untied because of bulky stopper groups.  Previous attempts to prepare a rotaxaknot by groups in Germany and England failed because the stopper group was not large enough.  Dr. Jeffrey Moore and his graduate student Aaron Finke at the University of Illinois have prepared a bulky dendrimer stopper group that we are using in our T-L-C approach to a stable rotaxaknot.
