  • Liberales, the semi-annual newsletter of Franklin & Marshall College's Center for Liberal Arts & Society, has been honored by CUPRAP: The Association of Communicators in Education.

  • February 12: Owen Lovejoy to Speak at Franklin & Marshall's Eighth Annual "Darwin Day"
  • Owen Lovejoy, University Professor of Anthropology at Kent State University will discuss "Lucy meets Ardi: Darwin's and Huxley's Dreams Come True" at Franklin & Marshall's eight annual "Darwin Day". The talk will occur on Friday, February 12, 2010 at noon in Booth Ferris, Steinman College Center. This event is sponsored by the Boncheck Institute for Reason and Science in A Liberal Democracy and is open and free to the public.

  • February 14: The Vagina Monologues
  •  Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues will be performed Sunday, Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at the Roschel Performing Arts Center at Franklin & Marshall College.

  • March 4-6: Emerging Scholars Symposium
  • The Center for Liberal Arts and Society (CLAS) at Franklin & Marshall College has announced the 2010 class of fellows for the Center's annual Emerging Scholars Symposium March 4-6. The symposium will focus on the theme of "Re/Vision."

  • March 11: Leymah Gbowee to Discuss "Ending War and Rebuilding Nations: Women, Peace and Security"
  • Leymah Gbowee, executive director of Women in Peace and Security Network in Africa, will    discuss "Ending War and Rebuilding Nations: Women, Peace and Security" on Thursday, March 11 at 11:30 a.m. in Franklin & Marshall College's Mayser Center. Gbowee's talk is part of Franklin & Marshall's Common Hour and will also serve as the keynote address for International Women's Week. The talk is free and open to the public

  • March 24: "Sex Signals" Sexual Assault Awareness Program at Franklin & Marshall
  • The touring sexual assault awareness program, SEX SIGNALS! will take place at Franklin & Marshall College on Wednesday, April 24 at 7 p.m. in the Green Room Theatre. The presentation, sponsored by the college's 1 in 4: Men Against Sexual Assault student group and the Center for Liberal Arts and Society, is free and open to the public.

  • April 8: "An Assessment of U.S.-Iranian Relations"
  • Author Trita Parsi will discuss "An Assessment of U.S.-Iranian Relations" Thursday April 8 at 7:30 pm in Stahr Auditorium, Stager Hall. The talk, co-sponsored by the Center for Liberal Arts and Society and the Lancaster Interchurch Peace Witness, is free and open to the public.

  • April 20: Melissa Ngo to Discuss "Surveillance: Re-visioning Community and Cameras"
  •  Melissa Ngo, former senior counsel and director of the Identification and Surveillance Project at the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC), a non-profit research education center in Washington, D.C., will discuss "Surveillance: Re-visioning Community and Cameras" on Tuesday, April 20 at noon in Stager 102. The talk, cosponsored by the Center for Liberal Arts and Society, the Department of Art and Art History, the Phillips Museum of Art, and the Humanities Speakers Fund, is free and open to the public.
