  • CLAS Legal Film Series

    The CLAS Legal Film Series is a collection of legal films which will be shown throughout the Spring 2012 semester. The series is sponsored by CLAS, the John Marshall Pre-Law Honor Society, and the Houses.

    Each film will he shown in a particular College House, unless otherwise noted.

    This series is open to the public and food will be provided by the Houses at each film.

    The purpose of Common Hour is to enable the entire F&M community to gather for culturally and academically enriching events each week during the academic year. It is an opportunity to engage in a campus-wide dialogue that extends into classrooms, House commons, dining halls and beyond.

    CLAS is pleased to sponsor or co-sponsor several Common Hour events each semester.

  • "Russia: The 21st Century in Print and Film" Film Series
  • "Russia: The 21st Century in Print and Film" is a course taught by Lina Bernstein, Professor of Russian and Chair of the Department of German and Russian. The course features numerous films depicting issues and subjects regarding Russia's transformation throughout the 21st century.

    CLAS is pleased to sponsor three of the films being shown as part of Dr. Bernstein's course, which, together, form the film series.

  • The 2012 Muli-faith Week of Meaning and Culture, sponsored by the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, features various events focused on community, relationships, love, sex, and marriage. 

    CLAS is pleased to sponsor a screening of "Philadelphia," the week's final event and also part of the CLAS Legal Film Series.

  • Middle Eastern Film Series

    CLAS is pleased to co-sponsor, with the Religious Studies Department, Arabic Language Program, and International Studies Program, the Inaugural Middle Eastern Film Series during the Spring 2012 semester.

    Three films will be shown which depict and discuss a variety of complex issues of importance to middle eastern culture and identity.
