An Ancient Image of a Mother Giving Birth Is Excavated
The pottery fragment, measuring 1-3/4 x 1-1/4 inches, was excavated by William Nutt, a graduate student working at the archaeological field school at Poggio Colla. This could be one of the earliest representations of childbirth in Western art.
