This approved storage program has been set up to meet the storage needs of Franklin and Marshall students. There is no limit to the quantity of items to be stored.  Perishable items will not be accepted. Students are NOT PERMITTED to store items in College owned buildings.

It is strongly suggested that you use standardized packing cartons that will be available for sale in April. These cartons are uniform in size and are best suited for packing items to be stored. The storage cost is less expensive than with non-standard cartons.

Carton sizes:

  • 1.5 cubic foot, small cartons (for books and papers)
  • 3.1 cubic foot, med. Cartons (for small computer monitors or pots and pans)
  • 4.5 cubic foot, large cartons (for clothing, sheets or lighter items)

The LONG-TERM Summer Storage (May through Aug 29 or Sept 2) charges are based on the size of cartons listed below.

The SHORT-TERM Summer Storage (May through June 2) rates are 1/2 the storage cost listed below but have the same handling costs.

For example, short-term storage for a 1.5 small carton is: $1.35 per box plus $5.35 handling = $6.70.

For example, long-term storage for a 1.5 small carton is:  $2.70 per box plus $5.35 handling = $8.05.

1.5 small carton $2.70 $5.35 $8.05
3.1 medium carton $4.30 $5.35 $9.65
4.5 large carton $5.70 $5.35 $11.05
Non standard carton $2.50(per cubic foot) $5.35 $7.85 (for a 1 cubic foot box)
Non boxed item $2.50 (per cubic foot) $5.35 $7.85 (for a 1 cubic foot item)
  • Storage charges are to be prepaid. (Cash, Visa or Mastercard - no Checks)
  • Standard limit of liability is $.60 per pound per article.
