The Office of Communications at Franklin & Marshall College fosters strong relationships between the institution and its many publics using the full range of online, print and multimedia communications strategies.
The office plans and executes strategic marketing and public relations programming that includes reputation and brand management, internal and external communications, social media engagement, and media relations.

The office's primary vehicle for sharing stories of the people, events and initiatives of the College is the F&M News website. Our news staff comprises professional writers and journalists dedicated to conveying the ways in which the College is committed to excellence in academics and scholarship and providing a supportive community that helps prepare students for lifelong learning and achievement. Members of the campus community should email to suggest stories for F&M News. These emails reach multiple members of our staff. Not all ideas will generate stories, but we welcome ideas from all members of the campus community.
Individuals interested in receiving regular updates of news as it is posted to the site may sign up to have news delivered via an RSS feed. Highlights of news published during the week are sent to members of the campus community and other subscribers via the weekly email newsletter, The Diplomat.
We showcase in-depth articles and stories of interest to alumni, parents and friends of the College in Franklin & Marshall Magazine, produced quarterly by the office. Alumni, parents and friends of the College also receive the e-newsletter F&M Headlines monthly during the academic year.
All College contact with the media is coordinated by the office. Our media relations staff assists reporters and disseminates news of public interest to news organizations across the country and abroad. The office also manages media relations for major events, provides media training for faculty and administrators, and serves as a liaison between the College's scholars and news media. Sports information is handled by Michael Blymier, director of athletic communication, in the Department of Athletics and Recreation.
The office produces approximately 500 electronic and print publications each year. With a team of in-house designers and writers, we provide publications services that meet the needs of the campus community to publicize and promote events, engage and recruit prospective students, build and sustain relationships with alumni, parents, and friends of the College, and establish and steward relationships with donors.
The office oversees the design and content for the top levels of the College's website, provides design and direction for other electronic communications, such as electronic newsletters and emails, and manages the production of videos that support the College’s strategic goals of recruiting qualified students, increasing loyalty of and raising funds from alumni, parents and friends, and enhancing the image and influence of the College among audiences beyond campus.
The office also manages F&M's primary social media pages and provides guidelines for units requesting to establish department-level pages.
