Psychiatric Services

Counseling Services provides the opportunity for our clients to consult with a psychiatrist as part of their treatment at Counseling Services. This service enables student to receive a psychiatric evaluation quickly and conveniently. Dr. Emily Pressley, from Behavior Health Specialists, is our consulting psychiatrist. She has been consulting with the Counseling Services’ staff since 2004.

Dr. Pressley is a consultant and does not serve as the primary treatment provider for any student being seen at Counseling Services. Students utilizing our psychiatric consultation services are required to also be in ongoing therapy with a member of the Counseling Services’ staff. If a student does not continue treatment with a Counseling Services staff member they will be referred off campus for their medication management.

Because Dr. Pressley’s consultation hours are limited, we request students’ cooperation with several procedures to help us utilize her time most effectively for the benefit of as many students as possible. Students are asked to make note of their appointment time and make every effort to be on time for their appointment. If it is necessary to cancel, please give us 24 hours notice so that we can offer the appointment time to another student. If a student no shows for an appointment with the Dr. Pressley he/she will not be able to reschedule and will be referred to a psychiatrist off campus.
