The Geoscience Founders Society connects the Department with the work experience of alumni and friends, rekindles the camaraderie and spirit of alumni, and provides support and encouragement for faculty and students as they continue the long tradition of excellence in Geosciences at Franklin & Marshall.
Geoscience Founders Society:
The concept for the Society originated with Dave Lehman '69 and Paul Gucwa '68. They recognized that F&M Geosciences alumni are some of the most productive and influential members of the scientific community. The recognized that there was no unifying organization to connect the Department and alumni. Dave and Paul met with Dr. Carol deWet and proposed a Society modeled loosely on an alumni association a the University of Texas. An inaugural meeting was help during the 2002 Alumni Weekend. At that meeting a framework for the Society was established, by-laws proposed and officers elected. Today the Society has over 115 members.
