Summer Trades Assistant: 

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION IS FRIDAY, MARCH 29, 2013

Job Description:

Support various trades in execution of summer maintenance projects.  Main areas of work will concentrate on but are not limited to:

Grounds: 7:00am – 3:30pm Monday – Friday (1 position)

This position will help maintain various areas of campus by mowing grass, maintaining plant beds, pruning, daily trash patrol, and minor landscaping projects. Trades Assistant will utilize various pieces of equipment: push mowers, riding mowers, power washer, Toro vehicle, hand tools, leaf blower, and trimmers.

Facilities Generalist: 7:00am – 3:30pm Monday – Friday (4 positions)

This position will help a variety of trades complete summer planned maintenance projects including changing filters, changing light bulbs, and cleaning out mechanical spaces.

Painter: 7:00am – 3:30pm Monday – Friday (3 positions)

This position will assist the F&M painter with various campus projects including residence hall painting, classroom painting, and exterior painting.

Requirements:

All positions require the following:

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Climb and work from a 6’ ladder.
  • Valid drivers license and 2 years driving experience.
  • All positions can be dirty and dusty.  Shorts are acceptable, but pants may be required for some projects.  Closed toed shoes are mandatory. 
    NO FLIP FLOPS

Schedule of work:

The successful candidate needs to be available from mid-May 2013 (May13th start date preferable, no later than May 20th) through August 9, 2013 or later. 

Eight days of unpaid scheduled vacation is available.

Compensation:

  • Wage Rate: $8.25/hour.  40 hours per week
  • Lunch:  Lunch will be provided at Dining Hall 75% of the summer
  • Uniform: 2 F&M t-shirts will be provided.
