Adrienne Christiansen

On October 12, Adrienne Christiansen, the director of the Jan Serie Center for Scholarship and Teaching at Macalester College, visited F&M to speak with the FCA and interested in faculty about the strengths of running a faculty-only faculty center. Her visit was highlighted by a wonderful lunch in the Academy Room in the library with many faculty and several smaller meetings with faculty and professional staff later on.

Some of the highlights of the Serie Center include:

  • Ample travel and research funding provided for faculty members
  • An open, comfortable space that encourages faculty collaboration, conversation, and "hanging out"
  • A diverse programming slate meant to highlight the accomplishments of Macalester's faculty while bringing them closer together as a group
  • Like the Center for Teaching and Learning at HWS, the Serie Center is centrally located in Macalester's library and benefits greatly from the foot traffic and central location on campus

At the lunch, Adrienne presented the most recent version of the Serie Center Annual Report, written yearly for Macalester's board of trustees. Below is a complete copy of the most recent report:
