Survey

The Faculty Centers Advisory would like to take a moment to thank all those faculty members who participated in our survey. The information and feedback we received from the survey data will prove invaluable as we continue to discuss what is best for F&M and as we prepare our final report.

The survey revealed many interesting opinions and trends. These will guide us as we work towards the completion of our report. To see them all, please download our complete survey PowerPoint report, available at the bottom of this page. Here is a list of some of the proposed Center functions that received largely positive feedback:

  • Organizing and supporting the mentoring of junior faculty.
  • Meetings and seminars on pedagogical techniques and innovations.
  • New faculty orientation.
  • Programs and events allowing for informal socialization.
  • Curriculum development seminars.

Opinions about the Center Director:

  1. 65% agreed with the following statement: "The center director should be a full-time, permanent position."
  2. 79% agreed with the following statement: "The center director should have professional expertise in pedagogy and/or faculty development."
  3. 22% agreed with the following statement: "The center director should be selected from among current F&M faculty."

If you are interested in seeing the survey results in their entirety, you can download the PowerPoint below. The file, prepared by F&M's Center for Opinion Research, neatly displays all the data gathered from the survey.
