Divorce and Noncustodial Parent Issues

Applying for Aid in a Divorced Household

Divorce can create unique situations for a family, especially within the financial aid process.  Many times it is not immediately clear to families as to how they should proceed.  Families in divorce situations can be left wondering how to reconcile the expectations of family members with their responsibilities in the financial aid process. FinAid.org has a resource page which counsels to the issue of divorce and financial aid very well.

Note:  Noncustodial parent information is not required in order to receive federal need-based aid, but it is required in order to receive Franklin & Marshall need-based aid.  The resource articles noted above focus mainly on the requirements of the former (federal need-based aid) and not the latter (F&M need-based aid).
