The federal government requires that first-time Federal Direct Loan and Perkins loan borrowers complete an online entrance counseling session before receiving loan proceeds. These sessions help students to understand their rights and obligations as a student loan borrower.

When students graduate or drop below half-time enrollment (2 courses) the federal government requires schools to have Federal Direct and Perkins loan borrowers complete an online exit counseling session. These sessions help students to understand their rights and obligations of borrowing federal loans and offers repayment information.
