External Grant Development and Application Procedures

Faculty members are encouraged to submit research and/or curriculum development proposals to external funding agencies. If unsure of where to look for funding, contact Amy Cuhel-Schuckers or Ryan Sauder (see below).

Please be aware that if your plans involve Sabbaticals or Leaves of Absence your benefits during periods of time when you are not receiving salary from F&M may be affected; you are encouraged to contact in Human Resources directly.

Proposal Development

1) Very early in the proposal development process, contact Amy Cuhel-Schuckers, or ext. 4697, if the funding source is faculty research specific (e.g., Research Corporation, American Chemical Society, NSF, NIH, NEH, ONR, etc.). Contact Ryan Sauder, , for all instituational funding sources.

Submission

The External Grant Information document provides guidelines for grant applications. The following steps are necessary prior to submitting grant applications:

2) Three weeks prior to the proposal deadline, complete an External Grants Contract Worksheet and complete the Proposed Budget Calculator. Contact or for assistance, if necessary.

3) Please read the Financial Conflict of Interest Policy. Complete and sign the Franklin & Marshall College Financial Disclosure Form. Send the form to , Associate Dean of the Faculty. 

4) All NSF grant applicants must read and sign the NSF Drug-Free Workplace Certification Form.

5) Review Franklin & Marshall's Patent Policy.
