The BANK SUMMER STUDY AWARD enables one or more Franklin & Marshall students to study abroad during the summer in the field of Judaic Studies.
Each Spring there will be a formal competition: sophomores, juniors, and seniors will be eligible to apply. A selection committee appointed by the chair of Judaic studies will choose the winner(s). An application will consist of a transcript, two letters of recommendation, and a proposal describing the program and the student's objectives. The committee will select the student/s whose proposals best represent the goals of Judaic studies as taught at Franklin & Marshall: a furthering of knowledge and understanding of the Jewish experience and tradition, the amount of each award will be set by the committee. Recipients must show quality of character, personal and intellectual promise, and an enthusiasm for learning from an international experience. A student can win only one Bank Summer Study Award.
Upon returning from his or her study abroad, each winner is expected to write a final report on their experience and to submit a final and detailed expense report (with receipts) to the committee. For additional information.
The award is up to $2,500, can either be split among several applicants or go directly to one person. This will be determined by the Judaic Studies Committee.
Please submit all applications to Matthew Hoffman, Chair, Judaic Studies.
