He covers almost everything about the brown spirit: origins, history, the geography, the differences among the varied types, how it’s made and why that matters. Of course, there is also a substantial amount about how to taste whiskey and what you’re tasting when you do. There's a look at food pairing, a dozen or so of Bryson’s favorite whiskey cocktails, and finally, a brief talk about collecting, finding other whisky drinkers, and finding whisky bars. As New York Times spirits writer Clay Risen said, "Bryson has something to teach you -- and you'll enjoy every word."
