First Years & Sophomores

You have many options...

All first-year students are assigned to one of the five College Houses:  Bonchek, Brooks, NewWeis, or Ware.  These College Houses are made up of several residence halls that face a common green area, which provides an attractive place for spur-of-the moment games, soaking up the sun and meeting friends.



  • new college house

Founded in 2011, the New College House in the newest house on campus and was built to reflect the priorities of the College's house system.

Currently, the New College House is entirely self-contained.

Founded in 2005 as South Benjamin Franklin House, and renamed Bonchek College House in 2007, Bonchek College House has always been active and vibrant.

Currently, Bonchek College House houses students in the following buildings: South Benjamin Franklin residence hall, a floor in Thomas residence hall and a floor in Schnader residence hall.

Founded in 2005 as Marshall Buchanan Thomas House,  MBT House was re-named Brooks College House in the fall of 2008.

Currently, Brooks College House houses students in the following buildings: Marshall and Buchanan residence hall, a floor in Thomas residence hall and a floor in Schnader residence hall.

Founded in 2005 as Schnader College House.  In 2011, Schnader College House was re-named Weis College House.

Founded in 2005 as North Benjamin Franklin House and later re-named Ware College House.

Currently, Ware College House houses students in the following buildings: North Benjamin Franklin residence hall, a floor in Schnader residence hall and a floor in Thomas residence hall.

College policy requires all students to live in college approved housing all four years. College approved housing includes the College House residence halls, the residential quad annex buildings, the theme houses and the off campus housing partners to include the JSP properties, College Row and College Hill. All college housing is orchestrated through the College House system Room Draw and the theme house application process.
