Appel Health Services for College Employees

The primary mission of Appel Health Services is to provide health care to Franklin & Marshall students. College employees are expected to see their personal physicians for health care services. College employees may be seen at Appel Health Services for the following (fees are charged for some services):

  • First aid, with subsequent referral to the employee's personal physician or an emergency room.
  • Blood pressure checks.
  • Campus-wide programs such as immunizations.
  • Hepatitis B vaccinations according to OSHA recommendations.
  • Tuberculin skin testing when indicated for primate laboratory work.
  • Advice regarding referrals to community physicians.
  • Informational pamphlets and participation in educational programs / health fairs.

In addition, the 24-hour sexual assault response line (717-560-7311) is available to College employees when classes are in session.

Appel Health Services is not a designated health care provider for work-related injuries / illness except in the case of student employees.

Limited medical records are maintained for employees who utilize available services; employees' records are subject to the same rules of confidentiality as students' records, and are maintained for 30 years.
